In the early 1960s, Gerard Malanga was tasked with tracking down images for Warhol to use to make paintings. Malanga would visit the photo dealer on 14th Street which is where he acquired many of the images that would be used by Warhol to create his Death and Disaster series of paintings. Malanga saved many of the original source photos that were set aside and not utilized, including this image of an electric chair.
