Louis Waldon

Louis Waldon (1934-2013) was an American artist and actor, best known for his collaborations with Andy Warhol both on and off the screen. Waldon starred in several of Warhol's films, including Lonesome Cowboys, Flesh, and the controversial Blue Movie. However, it was his transition from acting to printmaking that solidified his lasting impact on the art world.

After years of working closely with Warhol, Waldon began creating his own silk-screen prints inspired by Warhol's iconic images, such as Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, and the Electric Chair. Starting in 1979, Waldon crafted these prints using techniques similar to those Warhol employed, producing pieces that paid homage to his mentor while also capitalizing on his association with The Factory. Waldon's work, though often seen as compensation for poorly paid acting gigs, was rooted in the same spirit of replication and commentary on art that Warhol championed.

Waldon continued his artistic endeavors until his death in 2013, leaving behind a body of work that reflects both his connection to Warhol and his own unique contribution to the Pop Art movement.
